Hair Transplant Procedure

1.Hair Transplant by Strip Excision

Hair Transplant by Strip Excision means that strips of skin are removed using a from the donor area which will be afterward stitched. The strip excisions will be cut and dissected into individual follicles before they are transplanted to the balding area, where slits grafts or round grafts are made. Sometimes the the grafts do not always fit nicely in the holes or slits.

A bandage will be wrapped around the head for 2 days to keep the grafts in place. Not all transplanted hairs will survive, some will shed soon after surgery.

2. Hair Transplant by Follicle Hair Transplantation

This type of hair transplant is different, because no scalpel or blade is ever used. The follicles are removed using topical anesthesia. Then this grafts usually consisting of one or a few hairs and their follicles are transplanted into micro incisions made in baldness area using a needle.

The wounds of the donor site do not require stitching as in the case of hair transplant by strip excision and leave no visible scars. The donor site tends to heal faster. With this type of hair transplant, most of the newly transplanted hairs continue to grow after the surgery.

3. Hair transplant by FSUE technique: Follicular Single Unit Extraction

This delicate and demanding hair transplant procedure requires more skill and careful attention to be performed properly. The smaller and more tightly packed incisions require more closely dissected follicular unit grafts that are carefully trimmed under microscopes. These small and densely packed incisions are also more difficult to place the grafts into.

As reported in the British Journal of Plastic Surgery, the grafts yielded over 90% survival rate in the recipient’s site of the patient.
